The Curious Case of the Changing YouTube Video…

I noticed something today while dealing with the supposed “copyright infringement” on YouTube that took down my video clips from two previous posts.  The two-hour “Daawah Workshop” video that I originally downloaded from YouTube that was uploaded by Imam Wassim Fayed has been replaced by a new version of the video.

Now it’s not been edited in the way that you might think, the new video he uploaded is one in which the “hit your wife” quote is still in the video.  What he did change is the view, now that’s a pretty strange thing to change, you’re probably saying to yourself, that’s what I thought too and the reason I noticed it.  Now let’s go to a couple of screen shots of the videos.

Here’s a screen-grab of the new version of the video currently on the Imam’s YouTube account.  At exactly 1:37:39

Screen-grab of Daawah Workshop video at 1:39:37

And here is a screen-grab I did of the original video I have downloaded onto my hard-drive. At exactly 1:37:39

Now this is very strange indeed, why would the Imam need to replace his original video with one that has a smaller more obstructed view?  I wonder if it has anything to do with the Sheikh who is sitting off to the side in the video, or the fact that at this exact moment in the video the Sheikh starts to speak in Arabic about “jihad”, since I don’t speak Arabic this and a few other words were the only ones I could recognize.

It’s really starting to seem like this Imam is trying to cover up something maybe to protect someone.  Well my interest is piqued!  I guess I have a new project to work on… Let’s see, how do you spell the Sheikh’s name again?

US Imam: Allah Is Very Clear… You Can Hit Your Wife (Updated)

If you would like to view the video I now have it uploaded to PopModal and you may view it there. (I’ve tried to embed the video to this post but the video hosting site and the blog hosting site don’t seem to get along, my apologies.)

This video was taken from a “Da’wah (Proselytizing) Workshop” given by Imam Wassim Fayed, held at the Sammamish Mosque in Washington State and the focus of this ten minute segment is dispelling the “Misconceptions in Islam”.  The “misconception” that we are learning about is the completely ridiculous lie that Islam oppresses women.  In this video the Imam is explaining to his parishioners that Islam doesn’t oppress women because Allah gives men and women different rights.  And then at about the 8:00 minute mark he quotes the Qur’an on how to “discipline” your disobedient wife.  If you can’t speak sense to her and after you refuse her your bed (gee, what a punishment) and still she disobeys you, well, then you can hit her.  But don’t worry, this is a command from Allah and Allah knoweth best.

Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them

to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the

support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret

that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear

rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge

them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is

ever High, Exalted, Great.”

Qur’an Surah An-Nisa(women) chapter 4 verse 34

I wonder if the local city council, who is currently considering letting this group build onto their property, would like to hear about their flagrant disregard of State and Federal Laws regarding spousal abuse.  I’m guessing one call from a CAIR representative about “Islamophobia” in America would squash any potential outrage.  I’ll also be expecting a very strong condemnation from the National Organization of Women…. any minute now….

UPDATE:  Well that didn’t take very long.

It looks like Imam Wassim Fayed has claimed a “copyright” on the video clips I uploaded to YouTube so they were taken down… Fair enough.  It’s probably a good thing that I also transcribed the relevant part of the video so while it would have been nice to get the full context of the video, the point comes across just fine when you read his words…

@1:23:30 “Now why does the Qur’an says that men can beat the women?  Allah was very, very clear in that there’s one instance and it has, and you have to understand it’s not everyman can beat up his woman he comes home he, he taste the soup, the soup is not salty he slaps his wife on the face, is why the soup is too salty. That’s not what Islam teaches, Islam doesn’t teach us this, unfortunately there are uneducated men that do that in Islam right, we don’t deny that, you can’t go and start to deny, it does happen, it’s gonna happens.  But what does Islam teaches what the Qur’an says? (quotes in arabic) Even though men and women are not equal, Allah favors them in different ways, there has to be one person in charge, the one who is in charge in the house is the man, that’s how Allah favored man over women in this aspect, he favored women in different aspect, but this is one of the aspects Allah favored men over women he made them in charge of the house, one person need to be the leader.  And it can’t be both of them, like two people are competing who’s the boss, it has to be one boss one leader, (quotes Qur’an in arabic) with Allah has favored one of them over the other, this is an example (points to screen) of how Allah favored men over women (quotes Qur’an arabic) and because of what they have spent, from their wealth.”

@1:26:00  “And those you fear who are going astray, (quotes Qur’an) the first thing what do you do?  You advise them, you think your women, if your woman wants to remove her hijab, wants to walk on the streets, wants to do whatever she wants and she’s actually destroying the family structure, destroying the family life, she’s disobeying her husband, she’s harming her kids.  What do you do?  You advise her, you start talking to her and trying to make sense out of her, she refuse, she st(ray?) and she wants to go, and she wants to insist to keep doing what she’s doing? (quotes Qur’an) After that you leave them you don’t approach them, at night in the bed, you stay away from them and you punish them.  You basically, Allah says what?  First talk to them, then put them in time out.  But then if they insisted?  Well (arabic) then you hit them.  And then the Hadith from Prophet, be very gentle, you don’t go and beat them up and you bruise them and you let the blood come out of them, that is not what Islam teaches.  And then if it’s not gonna work, divorce is a second aspect, Allah has put a way out.”

If you would like to view the original video it is still posted on YouTube and wasn’t removed from the Imam’s account, you may find it here:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc_E2bEQ5ck

Imam Caught On Video Telling Followers to Lie to Non-Muslims (Updated)

Above is a link to the same video that was previously posted above:  (I apologize for not being able at this time to embed the video, I will be working to fix this. Thanks)

This video clip was taken from a two-hour “Daawah Workshop” given by Imam Wasim Fayed of the Sammamish, WA Mosque, who himself helpfully uploaded the workshop video to YouTube.  He is seen instructing his followers when proselytizing to non-Muslims to tell the truth but “not if it will incriminate you” he also admonishes to not saying anything that you will “regret” when facing Allah at your judgment.  This isn’t the worst that was said at this “workshop” and I will be uploading and posting more relevant clips as well as other Qur’an lessons that this Imam has given.  This, by the way, is the “project” I have been working on and investigating recently.

UPDATE:  This video clip was taken down by YouTube for Copyright infringement… that’s fine.  I’ll go ahead and just post the transcription of the, let’s call it, “incriminating” portion of the video clip.  If you would like to view the original video, it is still posted to the Imam’s youtube account, I will also post the time this shows up in the video so you can skip to it.

@15:00  Instruction given on spreading da’wah (proselytizing) to non-Muslims about the Islamic faith.

“Don’t say anything that in front of Allah on the (day of judgement) you’re gonna regret. If you can’t say the truth because it’s gonna incriminate you or put you in a bad spot, better not to say anything. But if you’re able to say it, then say it, inshallah.”

Washington Imam’s Moral Support for a Convicted Terrorist Fundraiser

It looks like I have a habit of stumbling across questionable characters while researching my current project.  It seems an Imam from Kent, Washington signed a petition on behalf of a man who, one would assume, most people would steer clear of.  The questionable character in this case being Dr. Sami Al-Arian who in May of 2006 plead guilty to “Conspiracy to make or receive contributions of funds, goods or services to or for the benefit of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), a Specially Designated Terrorist.”  He was sentenced to five years in prison including three years time served and deportation.  His case was followed closely by many different groups and received national attention as it happened in the year after 9/11, him being a tenured professor at the University of South Florida, as well as his high-profile background.  He was suspected of writing the manifesto of PIJ, he also founded the Islamic Committee for Palestine, and lobbied both political parties for abolishing the use of secret evidence in immigration cases during the 2000 presidential primaries.

Now fast forward to 2008 and a little online petition:

To the Honorable Michael Mukasey, Attorney General of the United States,

We, the undersigned, are writing to you with regards to Dr. Sami Al-Arian. We ask that you honor the plea bargain concluded between the government and Dr. Al-Arian, and allow him to be released as his prison term ended on April 11th, 2008. We also ask that you drop the two charges of contempt brought against Dr. Al-Arian on June 26th for his refusal to testify before a third grand jury on March 20th. Not only do the terms of the plea bargain concluded between Dr. Al-Arian and the government clearly stipulate that he shall not be obligated to testify at any other grand jury, but this was an obvious perjury trap, given that the prosecutor Gordon Kromberg has repeatedly made outrageously bigoted statements against Muslims, publicly supported the principle of punishing those who he finds guilty but who are acquitted in court, and indeed has successfully engineered the perjury conviction of another Muslim acquitted of terrorism charges who is now carrying out a ten-year sentence.

The continued prosecution of Dr. Al-Arian is clearly driven by political ends, just as his original trial was. We ask that you end this abuse of the justice system and allow Dr. Al-Arian to be deported.

Thank you for your time,

The arabic language petition I first noticed is here.  The “undersigned” number in at about 3,800.  Strangely enough the second person I searched the internet for happened to be from Kent, Washington an Imam named Husam Rabi of the Sheikh Abdul Kadir Idriss Mosque who serves their facility in Renton, Washington.

Imam Husam Rabi

Mr. Rabi is listed in at number 29 of the undersigned.

Husam Rabi, Kent

I personally find it disconcerting and a little disturbing that so many Muslims from my state would choose to put their names and reputations behind a man who is convicted of supporting a Palestinian jihad war against the Jews of Israel.  Though to be fair Dr. Al-Arain has also won support from such esteemed groups as the hard leftists at Democracy Now.  It is everyone’s right to sign a petition statement in support of whomsoever they wish, as it is my right to call them out for it.  I would have hoped for a more fair-minded man of learning to run a local mosque than someone with such a controversial stance, though you know that old saying, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
